View Full Version : SARAH looked lonely

Oh what a week this has been.
Well it all started a few weeks ago when I visited Margo and helped to do some work on SARAH, smile.gif we got to thinking about the options for the extra space in the warehouse. The idea eventually evolved that perhaps it would be advantageous for the progress on both SARAH and TALLY HO II if the 2 boats were close together, that way James could work on SARAH and I could work on TALLY HO II, but each of would be available if the other needed an extra hand to get some things done. :D Thus better progress could be made on both boats. With the amount of work remaining on both of them there is a possibility of launching both on the same day, oh what a party that would be. :D
So we looked into the possibility of making this all happen and the other day I got a good deal on having my boat transported to Florida, the truck was going to travel south empty to bring another boat back to New England. So a quick decision had to be made lots of small details to work out etc. The truck showed up got her loaded, loaded my pickup with tools, mounted the wide load signs and headed to Florida following TALLY HO II.
So we quickly took a photo of TALLY HO II all snuggled in the warehouse beside SARAH. Now I’ve got to return to New Hampshire for another load of tools and supplies, planning on stopping at Mystic for the EBS and some rest.

Very Cool! Glad that Sarah has a companion in convalescence! Could we get a web cam installed so as to keep up with the whirr of progress!

Good move. A little off kilter, season-wise, but a good move, nonetheless.

Ahh man. If you had done that a couple of weeks ago I would have been able to visit Tally Ho II also.

New Hampshires loss is Florida's gain, but I am concerned:

Ken, With your engineering background you should know that moving a work in progress to another latitude with different ambient air temperatures and pressures, along with humidity cycles that differ from the New Hampshire dew points that Tally Ho is accustomed will require different scantlings. Did you know that wood will not season properly in Florida?

BTW, if you put the house and barn on the market, let me know.

What Ken doesn't realize is that this was just part of my plot to increase the workforce on SARAH. :D

Thank heavens for New Hampshire winters smile.gif

Congratulations Margo ,they look like wonderful shed-mates there! (OK, but I can't help but to wonder a bit about the timing of the move (more to the date of this post? ;) )) . Ken, you've been one busy guy, milling a mast & moving to FL. all in a week.

Is that workshop long enough for the new mast Ken?
Is it true that Ed is moving Phoenix into the workshop unit on the other side?

wow.

Every big project needs advance planning, didn’t anyone notice the topic I posted back on Tuesday titled “Right now”? That was just the right timing for a trip from New Hampshire to Florida. smile.gif
John asked if my new mast will fit, sure does it’s the lower on a gaff rig and is 10 feet shorter than SARAH’s mast. smile.gif
But, the details, OH the details especially the architectural details, from a famous quote “the glove don’t fit”, da beam, da beam. Nobody remembered the width of the door when SARAH was moved in and likewise didn’t check TALLY HO II’s beam.
Now don’t get to thinking this was all my doin, that southern gal has some devil in her, ;) ya see when we were visiting Margo said “perhaps SARAH and TALLY HO II should do something for the forum on April Fools day. :D GOOD ONE EH? :D

You guys have to stop taking the nice boats from out of NH! I already have 20 small sailboats, kayaks, etc. in my backyard. I cannot keep replacing every boat that leaves!

Seriously, have a good safe trip..

Ken,

Good one. I bought it - some people probably still do.

But Selfishly - I'm glad the boat is still here sp I can go see it and lend a hand once in a while smile.gif

Ken, I'll see ya tonight ;) You are coming to the Mystic EBS? That wasn't an April Fools joke, was it? ;)

PS: It looked a little photoshoped to me, with the lighting and all ;)

Seems like some folks have too much time on their hands, but then time spent on a good joke is time well spent. ;)
