WASHINGTON – Republicans won dramatic victories last November by promising to mitigate high unemployment. "This coming election is about one issue: jobs," to-be Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said weeks before election day. "It's about jobs that were promised to the American people by the current administration, and were never delivered."

But in the three months since taking over the House and expanding their voices in the Senate, Republicans have yet to pass a jobs-focused bill, instead prioritizing numerous social and cultural issues that are unrelated to job creation -- and have little or no chance of becoming policy.

Here are six such legislative goals they've been hard at work on.

1) Curtailing Abortion Rights

2) Defunding Planned Parenthood

3) Defunding NPR

4) Investigating American Muslims

5) Declaring English As America's Official Language

6) Reaffirming The "In God We Trust" Motto

Poloticians is poloticians.......... they'll say whatever they think you want to hear to get elected, then do whatever they want once they are. Best part of it is everyone forgets about that during the next election so they do it all over again.
Vicious circle.

Just think of how bad the blue team screwed up to let them back in after only two years.... Nobody want's to talk about that. Sure, they are borking the donkey, the deceased canine dowager and anything else what ain't nailed down. Who's the idiot who let them back in? Anyone? BTW, I believe they are trying to pass a budget that they feel will reduce debts, and defeat the "affordable health care" act ( so affordable that exemptions are up to 1000, including the entire state of Maine, Labor Unions, philanthropic employers like Mcdonalds...) I don't see the attempts at debt reduction and efforts to stop "health care" in your list so it looks a little partisan bovine scat composed.

Just another .02 from a Democrat who ain't in love with the current direction of the party. YMMV.

And, of course, the number 1 thing: Laying off government workers. Because layoffs are bound to increase the number of jobs.

We could add a couple of things:

they are fighting to 1) maintain low taxes for the rich and 2) eliminate middle class benefits like health care, environmental protection, infrastructure, union representation, etc.

If they were truly interested in creating jobs and deficit reduction, their priorities would be entirely different.
