If this is the same story I think it is, NPR did a full(disclosure) story on it last night on my drive home.

Yeah, they did--pulling full quotes out (though I can't recall exactly what they were) the upshot being that it was a case of selective quoting. While the NPR piece appeared neutral (no outrage) I'm sure they'll keep this in mind in the future. Of course the guy will get off scot free.
Interesting, in the tit for tat of party politics, is that one could say this is payback for the "Koch" call made to Gov. Walker. However, and this may well be the sad thing, there's no indication or complaint that the quotes pulled from that call were taken out of context. Make of that what you will.

From what I hear the upshot is that it got rid of NPR CEO Vivian Schiller who has been playing the part of the drunk uncle at the wedding.
One of my customers is a PD at Clear Channel and he knows quite a few people that work in public radio. He says they all have been quietly rejoicing at her departure.

Highly selective editing, That bastard has not the least shred of concern for the truth; it's fitting that Fox made him the man of the week.

Clear Channel? You have got to be kidding!! Perhaps the commercial radio vs public radio pissing match is played out on the air, while off air they go the same bars or internet forums?

Clear Channel has been in the news lately - more accurately, one of their subsidiaries: "Premier Radio Networks", which does syndication for Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc. They run a service which provides scripted calls to be made to shows as if they were real callers.
“Premiere On Call is our new custom caller service,” read the service’s website, which disappeared as this story was being reported (for a cached version of the site click here (http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:V-DrnPsRQeoJ:www.premiereradio.com/shows/view/premiere_on_call.html+premiere+on+call&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a&source=www.google.com)). “We supply voice talent to take/make your on-air calls, improvise your scenes or deliver your scripts. Using our simple online booking tool, specify the kind of voice you need, and we’ll get your the right person fast. Unless you request it, you won’t hear that same voice again for at least two months, ensuring the authenticity of your programming for avid listeners.”
The actors hired by Premiere to provide the aforementioned voice talents sign confidentiality agreements and so would not go on the record. But their accounts leave little room for doubt. All of the actors I questioned reported receiving scripts, calling in to real shows, pretending to be real people. Frequently, one actor said, the calls were live, sometimes recorded in advance, but never presented on-air as anything but real.http://www.tabletmag.com/life-and-religion/58759/radio-daze/

I was no fan of Schilling's after Ellen Weiss got axed over the last affair, but NPR of all people should have held off on the firings until all the news was in on this scam. They caved into pressure, fired the goats and put on their flack jackets instead of defending themselves vigorously. I'm certainly oversimplifying here as I don't have many more details than the next guy, but this has been my sense since Williams got sacked.
Now there's a new threat from the usual suspects:
house threatens affiliates (http://www.joplinglobe.com/national/x814638231/GOP-prepares-new-assault-on-NPR-funding-as-questions-over-video-flap-remain)
Now this is a serious muzzle should it pass. I suspect it's a non-starter in the senate, or at least I hope so. What a bunch hoo-hah over a phony charge. Any excuse at all to kill a voice they don't like......
