View Full Version : best haul out in Vancouver BC Area?

Anybody know the best priced haulout in the Vancouver BC Canada area
I have to do scraping and bottom paint ,and should probably count on some repairs too so a decent workyard fee would be necessary
I'll be doing all the work myself and I'm on a somewhat limited budget

Currently I'm moored in Burrard unlet just East of the Iron workers(2nd Narrows)memorial bridge

It has been a few years since I have used any of the marinas in Vancouver however when we lived there I used both Mosquito Creek and Lynnwood Marinas with great success. Since they are both now owned by the Squamish Nation I would think that Lynnwood would be better run than it was in the past. Reed Point is the only other marina in the Burrard Inlet area that I know of with a straddle lift however I am not sure that they will allow "do it yourself" repairs.
Hope this helps and good luck

Try Shelter Island Marina in Richmond. They have lifts and a large DIY yard and seem reasonably priced for the Lower Mainland. http://www.shelterislandmarina.com/

Would you consider Vancouver Island in your area. There are a number of good yards over here, probably cheaper than in the big smoke???

The Sydney area has some excellent haul out facilities as well as some top notch boat builders and maintenance specialists.

I hear The ways at Silva Bay is now run by the Shipyard School, You might try to contact them, they would probably be a DIY setup. It is always best to avoid travelifts with your wooden hull.

I was out at Thunderbird Marina in West Van late last week and the yard was completely empty. In years past I've done my own work there. Perhaps they've changed to no DIY??

...any excuse is good enough to go to Silva Bay.
