Auk/Acorn

I've seen two tenders by Iain Oughtred - the Auk and the 7'10" Acorn. Are these the same boat? The length is the same but the beam is shown as 4 1/2" for the Auk and 4'2" for the Acorn.

His Clinker Plywood Boat Design Catalogue dated 2000 lists the Auk as you describe it and the Acorn at 11' 9" or longer. The Acorn's beam is 47". I see no reference to the shorter Acorn. Give that the Auk's beam is greater, I doubt that this is the same boat as a shorter Acorn.

Yes it is the same boat. When I built mine the Woodenboat Store had the plans listed as "7'10" Acorn Tender".

Oughtred renamed several of his boats awhile back to fit in with his "bird" theme, thus we now have the Auk.
