Palin Tries To Trademark Her Name.......

We could be up to 'here' in royalty demands in no time......

Sarah Palin is trying to trademark her name. The former Alaska governor and 2008 Republican vice-presidential candidate filed trademark registration papers with the US Patent and Trademark Office in November.
The federal office is seeking more information and examples of usage.
On her initial application, Ms Palin listed usage of the trademark for a website featuring political issues; and educational and entertainment services, including motivational speaking in the fields of politics, culture and values.

Her daughter, Bristol, is also seeking to trademark her name, citing motivational speaking services in the field of ''life choices''.

I predict she will be called "She who must not be named TM".

I also think that this might be a hoax.......but you never know these days.
We don't know how lucky we are....

So will her daughter also patent the term "Bristol Ships?"

Initial request was turned down by a judge yesterday because she or somebody forgot to sign the form.

Oops! Sarah Palin and daughter Bristol attempted to last month, it was revealed recently, filing a claim with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. But the mother-daughter duo was rejected when they failed to sign their names on the application. The Palins were seeking protection in attaching their names to “education and entertainment services” such as motivational speaking, according to the claim filed in early November. They are free to file again.

Trademarking your name really worked for Spike Lee, especially where the Spike TV network was concerned. Many celebs have trademarked their names.

A little off topic, but if you write a song you get a lifetime copyright, but a new drug only gets 7 to 10 years. Wouldn't allowing drug companies a lifetime patent mean they wouldn't have to make their investment back so quickly, and could spread costs over longer time periods?

Drug patents last 20 years, as far as I can tell.

                  Samsam,

The correct answer appears to be in between what you and I thought,

                  from the Life123 website
                  article by Jaceson Maughan

In the United States the patent filed on a drug lasts for 20 years; however, because companies file even before clinical trials, by the time the drug hits the marketplace, the patent may only have between 8 to 10 years left. Once the patent expires, other companies can produce the drug using the same ingredients and bring their version to the market, introducing competition and generally lowering the prices for the drug.

It would be interesting if as a result her name dissappeared from mention by the media. Of course Fox will pay the going rate if Rupert reckons there's a buck in it for him.

On the subject of Sarah Palin, could someone please translate this?

Sarah Palin: “It’s a difficult situation, this is that 3am White House phone call and it seems for many of us trying to get that information from our leader in the White House it it seems that that call went right to um the answering machine. And nobody yet has, no body yet has explained to the American public what they know, and surely they know more than the rest of us know who it is who will be taking the place of Mubarak and I'm not real enthused about what it is that that’s being done on a national level and from DC in regards to understanding all the situation there in Egypt. And in these areas that are so volatile right now because obviously it’s not just Egypt but the other countries too where we are seeing uprisings, we know that now more than ever, we need strength and sound mind there in the White House. We need to know what it is that America stands for so we know who it is that America will stand with. And we do not have all that information yet.”

Tina Fey should do that Palin 3:00am phone call quote on SNL, verbatum.

That paragraph all by itself pretty well sums why SP should never get into the White House as either POTUS or VPOTUS.
