John Gardner mentions RJ Douglas & Co of Waukegan, IL in Building Classic Small Craft. I was intrigued by what sounded like a relatively large operation. But, I've found precious little info about the firm or their boats elsewhere.
I'm looking to build a decked sailing canoe and I thought it would be interesting to build something with local history.
I'd appreciate any info you can provide about Douglas or their canoes. Of most interest (of course) would be surviving boats and/or plans from which I could build.
