Only hit about 99 here today. 'Twas a tad warm when I put on my kevlar trousers and cordura jacket to go for a ride.....

Cheers all!!!! What are you all up to for it? We generally have a bit of a street get together in front of our place, put a few camp ovens down in the arvo for a community feed, a few very cold ales and some good friendship! Nothing silly, just enjoying being lucky enough to be born in this great country, or for some, being lucky enough to choose to move here.

Mowing! It's actually bloody well dry and I have tonnes of grass to shear!

Bit more on Erica, a bit of pondering for a work deadline on Friday and a bit of this other wee Tassie project.

Bit of beer and a bit of steak... Kangaroo of course!

So HAPPY INVASIO.... er... AUSTRA.... er DAY!!!

Much prefer (definitive ethos of) the Pigram Bros "Nowhere Else But Here"

.......and a celebration with warm Thai salad skippy and (Unzud) pear cider at the beach.

You don't know how lucky you are......you should try Waitangi Day if you like an argument with your national holiday.

Jingoistic rubbish mate, and becoming more commercialised every year. I ignore it.
But for those who care, have fun.

I liked it much better when it was one more holiday in the land of the long weekend. With encourGement from our pollies we've morphed into flag flappers, 'patriots' in the worst sense of the word, and then there are now lots of youngsters who feel it's a duty to get drunk today, which is a bit of a shame. Family BBQ for us at the nephews' block near the beach, nice and hot might go for a swim.

Not sure I agree with this new fashion of driving around with flags all over the car...bit of a worry. Any way I'm gonna sit back and do bugger all, not that I can do a lot anyway.:)
Have great day the rest of you mob.

Having a family breakfast-to celebrate that we are all alive and well after last nights bingle. We may have floods and droughts and some crappy pollies, but we sure live in a great part of the world. Plenty to be happy about.

I agree vis-a-vis the flags pronging out from car roof tops: Makes me want to reach for the garden shears. I'm sure these are the same numpties that have friggin' plastic reindeer antlers pronging from their cars for three months before Crassmass.

Personally I blame John Howard! :D

Jingoism rules Duncan, especially if it's commercially or electorally advanteagous. Scruples? Don't make me laugh!

In spite of that it's a good place to live and in a pinch we seem to pitch in when required.

Just back from the local brekky, cooked a ton of bacon, eggs tomatoes etc with the Lions. My sheila took out the hat comp for the second year running, last year was a barby on her scone, this year an enormous Blowy. Going to a mates for a barby lunch and then down to the beach for a bit more fun. Hmmmm, must find time to check the cray pots too...

I wish you hadn't mentioned the cray pots.

I'm stuck here, working on how to value the environment.

It was nice to see some folks I've had a bit to do with lately get a gong... one even scored an upgrade.

Ian-one of my boys was in a minor bingle with a car full of mates mid last night-could have been a whole lot worse. I mentioned it over on the politics thread. With 4 boys losing one of them in a road accident is one of my greatest fears
