Milo,

I started reading the article and found it so slanted, so pathetically conceived, so weakly argued that I gave up in disgust. I have no idea if it's the worst article written about Obama, but it sure is a mess. Why on earth would you want to read more silliness like it? Or is this evidence of the dark side you speak of?

First time I ever got shot was in the calf of my left leg, "walking around with a loaded gun", with the safety Off. A self-inflicted wound!
Trigger caught a tree limb and fired a .22 bullet into my leg just below my knee and 12 inches through my calf and into the tendon in my ankle.
Lucky the bullet went straight downward through the flesh and never hit a bone.
I was 17 years old and shoulda known better!

The only reason anyone would like this article is because it reinforces what they already believe, tells them what they want to hear. From anything close to an objective, unbiased point of view its really poor journalism. Just plain silly.

Milo my compatriot, I am a bit disappointed in your post and thread here.

You are so so much much much better than this.

THe writer makes pseudo references to sources over and over. I tried and not one of his so called sources can be google by me and I usually as you all know can trace minute details around the world seven times if I need to.

Even though Glen Beck and Rush make shyyte up and "learn" and find out things that have been conjectured by their networks and so pretend them to be facts "because it was on the news!!!" News that was fabricated earlier in the day by the network first as political commentary (perfectly legal and ethical if acknowledged and introduced as political or positional opinion) But then it goes unethical and if it had been done even ten years ago, legally actionable, and said opinion then as such quoted as news and then expanded as opinion and then again as news and expanded again. As proven from their own tapes over and over by Jon S and KO and RM and others to give the creators of these lies and their comrads talking points. You can say what you want but they use Fox's and others own tapes when they take them to task. Fox and affiliates can not do the same because tapes like that never happen. The people Fox attacks Don't make up fake news and expand it like when we were kids and you could copy the Sunday funnies onto a ball of silly putty and then stretch it every which way to weird it out. Fox and affiliates verbally make on tv and such media clear cut Ad Hominem attacks on all who challenge their fabrications masquerading as news. They never contest or rebut the facts and or information or news presented by these other people. They just go straight to ad hominem, as the data and news presented By MSNBC (not to be confused with NBC or Cnbc two other parts of the NBC corp wide reaching empire of independent subsidiaries) but each is an independent corp down to choosing their own way of doing news and entertainment. No crossover and no common directives about news and it's presentation. (personally I think CNBC is almost as bad a Fox)

They still have not stooped to the unmitigated diseased tactic of presenting an article pretending to be real analysis but having reference and source after source that can not be validated, You can not even track this writer's ( a title that the right to is debatable) sources like you can via the days down loadable programs showing the build up step; by step each iteration leading to the Rush and Glen build ups. Nada a vacuum nothing out there anywhere, in fact all references just for show and none of them trackable on google or any other search engine.

THis has got to be the lowest form of pretend news masquerading as news to make not a point, but an accusation of lack of character of our dully elected POTUS. A while two pages masquerading as news while hiding behind references that cannot be checked and are therefore no more valid than artificial wind created and called weather, from the mouths of the self righteous know it alls.

This is a disgusting example of all false references slickly presented as real references, that people are buying into, which in fact after even just five minutes attempting to verify, is nothing more than a very clever AD Hominem style attack on our POTUS.

Milo, I have great respect for you, and I hope to earn your respect as well. But this one is beneath you.

It is at best Vacuous.
|:(

I am still a strong conservative ,but McCain and Sarah and their ilk drove me out of the election in disgust, to the BO side for president. I think Matt Damon's pre-election comments on Sarah summed it up well. And if that were not enough, you had Mr. English Michael the most famous Palin in the world's total hysterical laughter at the mere concept of her being the POTUS sometime in the next four years.

Then the GOP's tactic of getting even with BO by obstructing even their own bills out of spite. Yes, roughly half of our elected representatives house and senate were more interested in punishing BO by shutting the Government down every way they could come up with, than doing the job they took an oath to do. So Is their oath to serve the country and their state worthless?
In light of making a stupid move to shut the government down just out of spite and now they have won seats back voted in by those who can not realize these are the guys who have (treason-ably in my judgement) prevented not just Obama from doing the job but have prevented any and all of the work they were elected to do to serve the US population from getting done.

I feel like I am still am the not quite liberal but admittedly compassionate conservative I have been for 45 years and I feel like I no longer have any representation in our government. |:(

Well, Chase, I think you're mistaken to hold me in any kind of regard. Read the comments about me ranging from a low of being publicly called a "sick f**k" to all the other derogatory comments about me and surely you'll have to agree with the majority of derogatory name callers and denigrators that there's nothing here to respect, instead you should join in and loathe me and all I stand for and represent.

As to the rest of your comments, there's too much truth in them to find much fault with.

I stand by my position, taken early on in Obama's candidacy, that he wasn't ready to be POTUS. But he thought he was and ran. Say all you want about conservative spin machines, the spin machine that catapulted this man to the Presidency was equally powerful.

The article's "armchair psychologist's" diagnosis of narcissism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narcissistic_personality_disorder)(recognized as a personality disorder in DSM IV) has enough elements of truth in it to be worthy of discussion.

True so true Milo.

On the other hand BO's narcissism is strictly amateur Compared to JFK. Actually compared to any of the Kennedys and their In their own pocket media supporters. I am old enough and was present enough in CT, RI, and MA to have witnessed it all up close in the 60s and 70s and 80s and 90s.

Barak Obama When it comes to narcissism compared to the extended Kennedy machine locked into the IVY League colleges and prep schools, (lived next door to one of them) Is not even a good amateur at self promotion and grandstanding.

We are of course talking about old money. Folks that have a teaching degree and teach history at the HS, and live in a modest house. But when they go away for the weekend or summer vacation it is to a now 5 to 10 million dollar trophy house/compound at Cape Cod or at Squam Lake (the On Golden Pond Lake) just like me with two weeks at Squam and two weeks at Point Judith/ Matunic back an forth all summer.

We are talking old real wealth very rarely paraded or shown off, but you better believe that 200 year old HS history teacher's real worth could buy every one on the WBF out of pocket change. These folks are on the board of directors of major top 100 corporations virtually a few weeks after graduating form Yale or Harvard.

Alvords, Cabot Lodges, MacCleans, and so on, and then the newcomers like the Kennedys, and you know they allo knew the Petracas and others and moved the money from bootlegging and more into legit businesses. Hell my growing up buddy Dave alvord's father with BA and MA from Yale failed at four businesses when we we growing up. Each time the family bought him a new business. The Alvords had a rule that after you got the first part part of your trust on graduation and then the second part when you married, you were no longer by trust rules allowed to ever work for someone else. Third part of the trust is incremental as children are born.

Dave's dad did not need to succeed at the tractor dealership or any of the other businesses. His major income came from sitting on the board of directors of ten or more major corporations and two prep schools and so on.

Growing up I lived in a town surrounded by elite prep schools including but not limited to, Westminster next door and I had keys to the private gym and indoor pool and ice rink and ski hill and ski jumps. And then you have Ethel Walker, Avon Old Farms, Westledge, Masters, Miss Porters, and on and on. YHou make think these folks had it easy growing up.

Imagine, tap dance lessons start at age five along with Organ or piano at the nearest full College of music, Then by 2nd grade you pick your final major instrument. Then you have summer art school and science camp, by sixth grade your private reading and subjects teacher/tutor has you reading and absorbing insane percentages of each text at the Graduate degree level ( the SRS reading program) and in 4H and at least two groups and raise at least one animal (for me it was the electronics group, Angorra rabbits for fur, collies for trials competition , then 3 years of tailoring taught by the head tailer for Hartt Schaffnirand Marx, and chefs school). And you get promoted to taking ballroom dance lessons and start skating with top coaches either hockey or figure skating. In 7th grade you have a private or at least semi private ski coach who is also the head coach at one of the Ivy League colleges nearby, and now you start taking music or science or ? courses afternoon/evening or Saturdays at the College for college credit, sailing or crew lessons and competition starts, Toastmasters, an official at least semi steady girlfriend to bring to "events", and of course audition and win a competitive slot to attend Tanglewood for summer music camp. THe next year you are expected to pick a major sport for each season and excell in it and become at least a co-captain by 9th grade (private coaches available if you need them), audition and gain a leading seat in a regional or better state wide symphony, become active in politics like founding the Connecticut TARS (teen age republicans) and actively campaign at least at the state level. From here on the family and family friends will not discuss at "events" (cookouts to weekend long bashes) any thing you have done if you did not make it to the podium. Placing in the medals and on the podium is expected in every thing you do. Add at least one more instrument to your skills and take lessons and bring your keyboard skills up to re-writing and re -arranging music as taught in college theory class back when you were in 9th grade, for different instruments than a piece was written for (Vivaldi cello duet rearranged for cello and viola was my project).. By the time you turn 16 you have had 60 some hours of racing level driving school already at Thompson Speeday or Lime Rock race park, or Bridgehampton, LI,NY.

http://www.google.com/images?q=tbn:OXC-fn36HBzn6M::www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/NY/images/bridge/bridgehampton.gif&t=1&h=94&w=140&usg=__0rJkSguH5yKhp-ZHe2IGWnFyEHE=

And now at sixteen you are allowed to drop the ballroom dance lessons if you take on a part time real job. and you have to complete at least your Red Cross SR Life Saving certification, but your WSI to be able to teach the SR LS course was expected. In the Winter get your ski teaching certification and teach skiing at the mountain several night a week and Saturdays either morning or afternoon as allowed by music schedule at the Music College.

By 11th grade you are a member of at least three major music groups (symphony, baroque quartet, big band Jazz band etc.) Pre admission work to get into the Ivy League College of your choice or start preparations to earn a nomination to one of the military academies and take on any course work or different sports to maximize your chances of selection. So You are now In your junior year of HS.

THis is your life:

Farmington valley symphony as acting concertmaster and lead cellist.
Holiday season rehearsals as a "ringer" cellist playing in all four clefs any part missing from bassoon to first violin for five more chamber orchestras and symphonies. All this on weeknights.

Soccer or wrestling or crew practice every day.

Work at a part time job at least four days a week.

Excell at school in all subjects anything below 3rd in class Does not count.

Have one only well mannered steady girlfriend to bring to all"events".

"Graduate from Toastmasters"

Political involvement.

Be taking at least 6 credits worth of college courses each semester.

Play in your first major solo concert at a major venue. I shared the stage with my cello duet partner James Tsakoyanis at the main 750 seat concert hall at Hartt College of music. That won me the gift of my grandmother's 250 or so year old Guadagnini ($$$$) level Italian cello.

Place in the top 2% of PSAT, and SATs a junior, and the ACT tests. Private coaches if needed.

If you ski skiing Tuckermans Ravine is required to prove yourself fearless to the family and yourself.
Challenge serious level 3 whitewater

Earn your stripes in Sea Scouts explorer scouts.

None of us ever had time to be a kid.
Nor were we allowed to just do something without having to excell and be tops at everything we did.

Growing up like that made military special training seem like a vacation with double the sleep time you had been used to..

Sorry for the rant and thread drift. It just started coming out and then .......

CHase

Believe me it was not fun. Maybe that contributed to my physically burning out by age 55.

Quite true Bobbys.
However many of these "Families" had traditions of military service going back to the Revolutionary War. In these cases your were expected to serve as an officer and earn some significant sort of rank just like Joe Jr. and Jack Kennedy. my family it was all Navy and I was the first enlisted/Non com officer in 200 years in the family. Yes I did have enough education and such that I went in as an E4 from day 1. Original service number D100002. I am not sure but think it was because of dads rank as senior Captain(now called Commodore) a direct DOD service number.
