That is so cool! There's an inflight crane-cam thingy (http://www.operationmigration.org/crane-cam.html)when the birds are following the ultralight. 7 a.m. CDT to about 9 a.m. Reading the logs, the weather is slowing things down. I'm going to do an impromptu road trip to see this operation up close and personal. There's a list of landing sites, (http://www.operationmigration.org/MigrationFlyovers2010.pdf)from which they will also take off following the ultralight, numbered but not with dates as the whole thing is so uncertain.

The ultralights are up and the crane-cam is streaming live, they've just joined up with the cranes, confusion creigns.

Five birds following "momma", flying in the vortex, two on one side, three on the other. The camera location isn't optimum, but, hey, it's not everyday you get to see whooping cranes flying with a ultralight to guide the way and make the flight a little easier.
