If you haven't yet, take a look at p. 86 in the new issue at TOP HAT by D. N. Hylan. I've been smitten with Bryan's HANDY BILLY designs, and had a hand in building an 18 at NWSWB in PT. We did batten seam bottom and lapstrake from chine up. Nifty.
Anyway, Hylan has taken Bryan's idea and stretched it to 26+' and for plywood bottom and strip planked topsides. He's kept Hand's broken sheer and raised foredeck, allowing for a couple of berths and portapotti. With 7'3" beam and 3200 lb displacement it's sure a purty powerboat to live on a trailer. With a 50 hp Honda the prototype got 17.5 knots, which apparently disappointed Hylan a mite. That 12' cockpit screams for an elegant picnic.
This could almost convert a sailor to outboard powerboating. Almost.
I'm still looking for a hardchine design about this length suitable for my SABB G. Maybe I should e-mail Hylan.
