I am interested to find a set of plans,Any size, for a Cat,Gaffed Rig, Harbor Tender called a Pumpkin Seed.
They were used historically by Ships Chandlers to deliver goods at anchor in Boston Harbor and other New England Harbors early to mid 1800's.
If anyone might have an actual boat I would travel to see it but otherwise I would like a lead on any plans for one that might be available.
Thanks ,
Doc

Last year, at Belle Haven Marina, I met a gent with a Pumpkin seed. I'll see if I still have his number.

thanks Garret,
I am hoping to have a couple built I do believe but I haven't actually ever seen one except for a painting.

Was it as sweet as I think it should be? LOL

If we're talking about the same boat, yes, she was sweet. Glued lap, pram, finished bright, and she was a lively sailer, from what I could see from the Flying Scot I had rented.

I don't know if this has anything to do with your request. But this was a very interesting article that I ran across in doing some research on wooden boat hulls on the west coast of the country. It looks like a great event, and a great collection of wooden hulls.

The Kermit Parker Perpetual Trophy for the best elapsed time went to Inouye. This was also the first year for Dave Bressler’s 1906, stone-built “Pumpkin Seed” sloop Polaris to return to the race where he held on to fifth place ahead of B & J Mifsud’s Spray.

Doc, try here: lwarren@aldenboats.com

Her name is Linda Warren, and she sails these boats, according to Alden Boats. (http://www.aldenboats.com/today/aldentoday.html)

No references to Pumpkin Seeds in Chappelle's American Small Sailing Craft.

How long do you think these things were?
