Robert Gibbs says leftwing critics of Obama 'ought to be drug tested'

It seems that Robert Gibbs is tired of the far left in this world screwing with his president and he thinks that you might be on drugs.

I want everyone one in the bilge to pee in a cup and send it to Scot to be tested hehe Just kidding, no need we all know you guys are on something.

So lets summarize, the right doesn't support him. The independents have been flocking in droves away and now the far left think he is George Bush.

So what's left? You guys in the bilge.....man you have a tough job ahead of you. :D

Glenn Greenwald at Salon (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/08/10/gibbs/index.html) described Gibbs's remarks as "one of the most petulant, self-pitying outbursts seen from a top political official in recent memory, half derived from a paranoid Richard Nixon rant and the other half from a Sean Hannity/Sarah Palin caricature of The Far Left". Chris Bowers of the OpenLeft blog (http://www.openleft.com/diary/19769/dear-swing-voters-you-suck-love-the-white-house) responded in a post headlined "Dear swing voters, you suck. Love, The White House":

Obama has enough cool for his whole administration. I am considerably more "radical" than most of Obama's testy critics, but like Obama I've been a community organizer and I know what it means to develop a working constituency. Liberals and radicals should be pushing Obama, but we really should be doing it in ways that make it possible for him to be more than the very pragmatic majority builder that his whole life has been about. There are profound differences between Obama and Bush 43, even though Guantanamo is still a prison.

So, I get the frustration, but any political operator who thinks a constituency has a duty to be grateful to the pol has the equation backwards.

I think Obama's done a spectacular job, given the vicious, corrupt mess that was left by the previous administration, and the present refusal of the Republican Party to do any real work to govern the country.

If dark rum is a drug, I'm taking a bit right now. Mmmmmmm.

It's kind of hard for the Republicans to "do any real work to govern the country" when Democrats have control of the house, Senate, and presidency.

Glad you noticed.
Did you notice anything during the Bush years?
Wars? Market tumblings? Natural disasters? Anything at all?

Y'know, I voted for Obama ( as if it was a hard choice, given the alternative ) but I am not happy at the moment, and not for Republican reasons.

So Gibbs can stuff it. Obama hasn't done the real things many people voted for him for: roust out the Bushie fanatics embedded in the government; be ARTICULATE about why he is doing the things he is, and not to cede talking points to the TEA idiots; gut the pernicious and anti-American so-called Patriot Act; stand up to nonsense and take a stand on things like killing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, health care reform, cap and trade, etc. The list goes on.

I am appreciative of what has happened so far, but he has lost the initiative to morons, and that is almost unpardonable.

all obama does is take vacations, go on political fundraisers, blame bush for his own failures. Doesn't he ever actually do any work?

He has set race relations back a generation, divided the country into two extreme groups, screwed businesses to the point they will not hire, and shown the world what a weak novice he is.

Mr. Oman: uh, if you dropped in 'fanatic reactionary Republicans' into that second sentence, you might have some credibility.

As for your first sentence, it's the Worm Ouroboros .

You guys are living proof (and Robert Gibbs backs me up on this) on just how mean and nasty far left liberals are to EVERYONE (wow! Obama and I are on the same far left liberal hate list - who would have thought?)

Guess you can see that the bottom is dropping out of your obama dreamland faster than poop from a horse. Just wait until the republicans take over congress in Nov. and Obama has to embrace G Bush in order to get anything passed. Won't you be pissed then!

You may think that the reason you're dissatisfied with the Obama administration is because of substantive objections to their policies: that they've done so little about crisis-level unemployment, foreclosures and widespread economic misery (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/08/10/opinion/10herbert.html?hp). Or because of the White House's apparently endless devotion to Wall Street (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/17390/188551?RS_show_page=0). Or because the President has escalated a miserable, pointless and unwinnable war that is entering its ninth year. Or because he has claimed the power to imprison people for life with no charges (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/05/21/AR2009052104045.html) and to assassinate American citizens without due process (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/04/07/assassinations), intensified the secrecy weapons (http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2009/04/expert_consensus_obama_aping_bush_on_state_secrets .php?ref=fp1) and immunity instruments (http://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2009/04/obama-doj-worse-than-bush) abused by his predecessor, and found all new ways of denying habeas corpus (http://www.aclu.org/national-security/obama-admin-seeks-deny-bagram-prisoners-access-us-courts). (http://www.salon.com/news/opinion/glenn_greenwald/2010/08/10/gibbs/index.html)

Hey! I agree with a bunch of these... reasons for discontent. Guess that makes me belong to the Professional Left :D :D

Nothing that happens with this Administration is done without the scrip.

Gibbs flung arrows then slipped back onto the reservation..

Meanwhile the Great {fill in the blank} Father sat smugly above it all untouched.

Actually if the bottom is dropping out of anyones world it is the Republicans. Although approval for the Democrats is down, approval of the Republicans is down even more.

And the Republicans didn't start out very high.

To me this is a reasonable declarative statement but in another context I was banned for "being rude". It is entertaining reading right wing whackos attempts to redefine reality.

To me this is a reasonable declarative statement but in another context I was banned for "being rude". It is entertaining reading right wing whackos attempts to redefine reality.

This is the second time I've used this descriptor to characterize this individual - one who is deficient in sense, understanding, and judgement. I try to avoid his stuff but he continues to spout, and I randomly come across it. You can pull content from any of his opinion posts for confirmation of the descriptor. In this case, his spout that the first black U.S. president in history "has set race relations back a generation" qualifies him as a first class fool. If he thinks otherwise he might publicly write and explain exactly how Obama, a legitimate citizen, exercising his lawful rights as a citizen, and duly elected by a majority of all racial groups in the U.S. "has set race relations back a generation."

If my descriptors of "fool" and "first class" fool are being rude, I am happy and proud to be rude to him and his ilk.
