Htom mentioned this (http://www.politico.com/blogs/joshgerstein/0710/FinReg_FOIA_exemption_for_SEC_draws_heat.html?show all) in another thread.

It seems that there's a provision in the new bill that exempts the SEC from public requests under the Freedom of Information Act. Apparently Fox news has already had a FOIA request denied this week. If this rule doesn't get interpreted differently in the future, the federal government will have to initiate any requests for information from the SEC.

Here's Fox's story (http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2010/07/28/sec-says-new-finreg-law-exempts-public-disclosure/)

(my pinky fingers went dyslexic, how do you edit a thread title?)
