first day (06JUN10) was splash day...followed in the next few days by fixing, adjusting, instruction, shopping and general preperation

Just me and chief engineer (Erik Addey)

it was at this time that I discovered I was to be second engineer and not cook...Oh joy!

a kind of algea...they produce "tree rings" and are an indicator of growth rates over the years
