Need a Garvey

The island cottage workboat needs replacing. It's looking worse than the firewood we haul in it. Plus I need an excuse to build another boat; a 15 foot Garvey would be perfect.
I've considered 'Mark's Boat' and Devlin's Cackler, but when the materials lists call up 6 gallons of googie poo I think they're not for me.
Gardner's Garvey is more my idea, plywood, glue, nails and paint, more or less in that order. But at 20 feet it's about 5 feet more than what's wanted. So here's the question, if I reduce the offsets to ¾ of what's given, will I get a plan I can build?
Or has this already been done? Can someone point me at a 15 foot Garvey plan that will suit my workboat purpose?

One of Bolger's books shows a landing craft - like the Higgins boat that dropped my uncle off on Omaha Beach in '44. Smaller of course. Easy to get "stuff" off & on.
I'd have guessed that 20' is barely big enough, not too big :rolleyes:

WoodenBoat offers plans for the 15'9" Ben Garvey. Construction is "plywood over bulkheads," so I don't think too much icky goo is required. You can look at the lines by clicking on WoodenBoat Store on the home page and going from there.

I too am considering building a 15' Garvey, coincidentally. I have seen references to Mark's Boat, but haven't seen a single image yet. Can someone describe it (length, accomodations, hull shape, etc.), or point me to an online image?

1. Have you looked at Doug Hylan's "Ben Garvey" - plans sold by WoodenBoat.

2.A 17' garvey by Robert Stephens reviewed in Boat Design Quarterly #14.
