I am sure there will be a lot of critiquing of this guys hard work. Sometimes your just don't have the right hammer to do the job. But the job needs doing.

An instructional video would be well done to start with if the tradesman had the proper tools, say a caulking mallet. The cotton should be tied together; with the tail of the old cotton tied into the new in at least an effort to have a unified seam. A large seam would take oakum.
I watched an experienced caulker just yesterday. A lovely thing, no wasted moves, no backtracking in the seam, every loop even and evenly driven home to a consistent depth. He did have good seams and a perfect bevel to work into. And so on...........
I will say the language in the video was a lot more colorful than what I heard on the job yesterday, so full points for that!
