I'm interested in your opinions on tenders. Priorities are small size, ease of building and rowability. Must carry two and gear.
Thanks in advance.

Three pieces Nesting Dinghy. The center part for 2 people. Increase size and capacity by connecting first another bow, then another stern. http://www.tantonyachts.com/Dinghy-2guysA_small.jpg http://www.tantonyachts.com/Dinghy-4guysA_small.jpg http://www.tantonyachts.com/Dinghy-5guysA_small.jpg http://www.tantonyachts.com/With_Dinghy.jpg

If you give us specific maximum length and width we'll come up with better recommendations.

Dimensions are not critical but smaller is better.

I'm just completing a B & B Two Paw 8 nesting pram. This is a stitch and glue design that comes in just shy of 8' assembled, 4' nested.

Check out the Wooden Boat Store (on the home page) for Joel White's Nutshell pram. Plans are available, or you can buy a kit. Another option would be John Gardner's 8' pram. Plans are shown in "Building Classic Small Craft". You'll have to loft the full size frames, but that's easy on this type of boat. Instructions in the book are good and the construction is very straight-forward.

Hi Hal,

I like the Sunshine yacht tender from Duck Trap. She's a gorgeous little 10.5" lapstrake beauty. Check her out...

Gotta love that little sprit sail too!

The Nutshell Pram is one I've considered; also interested in John Welsford's Sherpa. Anybody built one?

FWIW, you can get Sherpa kits from Kent Island Boatworks.

Yeah: I first saw the boat in their ad in MAIB. I'd like to hear from somebody that uses one.

It would be helpful to know how you'd like to use it.

Will it be sailed?
Will it be rowed or generally powered by infernal combustion?
Will it be towed?
Do you need to get it on deck?
How will it be stored?
What are your skills?
Are there aesthetic requirements?
Where do you sail/cruise?
Etc.

Will be used on the left coast, rowed primarily but a sail rig capability is a plus. Must be light enough to car top.
Will probably be hung in the rafters when not in use. I have plenty of skills but little free time and thus looking for a kit or simple build.
Pretty is always good. smile.gif
