Hello,
I am interested in Richard Maury's schooner Cimba from his book THE SAGA OF CIMBA.She was built by Vernon Langille and wound up in a museum in New Zealand. In the the book he mentions that a builder in Tahiti,Thomas Ellacott, took down her lines when she was hauled out. This was in 1931.Does any one know if there are set of lines for Cimba, and can they be obtained?,And,Does anyone know the museum in New Zealand she wound up in?.
Thanks

A book you need to read is "The Tancook Schooner". Sorry, I forget the author. It talks about Langille and the other fishermen/builders of Tancook Island, Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada. It describes the evolution of the boat type away from the Tancook Whaler (which was double ended) to it's final transom-stern (counter-stern?) form. A great deal of information and line drawings are shown there. I believe Cimba was typical of the type.
I think these boats were the prettiest small schooners ever built, period. Absolutely perfect little gems.
One of them was for sail a little while ago -- an original that had been made into a yacht. I think it was on the Ocean Yacht Sales site. I'll see if I can find it.

Yes, here it is. Never mind building, just buy this one. It's gorgeous and far cheaper than building from scratch.
