Don't know about the big dory myself, but the best place for info about Bolger designs is the Bolger group on Yahoo:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger/
Join up, post a message there, and you're bound to get loads of (mostly) informative responses.
Best way to get plans for the big dory are to buy them from Harold Payson at:
www.instantboats.com (http://www.instantboats.com)
Click on "ordering," and you'll find the "stretched light dory" as no. 27 on his instant boats price list. The price is a mere $35. Plus, Payson's a fine fellow and has a good relationship with Bolger.
Incidentally, I wouldn't buy ANYTHING from Common Sense Boats. Bolger owns the designs, and gave the original owner of CSB the right to sell them in exchange for royalty payments. However, the current owner of CSB has refused to honor the deal and isn't sending Bolger his royalty checks. (Plus, I've heard that some of the plans sold by CSB are poor quality copies of copies of copies . . .) Duck Flat Wooden Boats in Australia apparently has also taken Bolger for a ride by using his name and his Tennessee design without permission.
For more info on the misuse of Bolger's intellectual property, see the following post from Bolger over at the Yahoo group:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/bolger/message/1250
Finally, if you'd like to buy plans from Bolger or get more information about any of his designs, Phil Bolger & Friends can be reached via fax at (978) 282-1349. If you give them a return fax number, they're usually quite prompt at responding.
They can also be reached by mail at:
