I don't get it.

On St. Patrick's day, the Irish get drunk.

On Cinco de Mayo, the Mexicans get drunk.

On Syttende Mai, the Norwegians show off their embroidery.

I have evil memories of Aquavit and pickled herring. After enough such sessions, I might be willing to settle for embroidery too.

(happy belated Syttende Mai! :D)

You are NOT supposed to put them in the same glass. Sheesh.

Belated Happy Syttende Mai to all of our Norse readers.

It is my recollection that NATO missile siloes were used to store vats of herring as the pickled.

Altho I'm not Norwegian, some of my best friends are (not that there's anything wrong with that). :) But I love living in Ballard. My boat's name is Snoose, I've eaten my share of pickled herring and drunk some aquavit. But Ballard has it's lutefisk eating contests and Syttende Mai parades and a lot of rightfully proud Norwegians.

Skol !
