a friend of mine emailed me this yesterday. just in case no one else has posted it, i figured i'd pass is along. it's a video of wooden racing dhows in the UAE.

Covey Island Boat Works has done a brisk business building wood and carbon spars for these boats. The yards are as long as 100'.
