Ahoy shipmates,
My name is Chris and I'm in the Navy stationed in Chicago, IL. I've recently come in possession of the sloop"Holiday" (family boat since 60's). The Holiday is a custom built, one of a kind, Sparkman and Stevens designed 42 foot Sloop (hull # 638). She has been laid-up three-quarters of the way restored 29 years at Nimphius Boat Inc., in Neshkoro Wisconsin (original builders). Since her second place finish in the Mackinac Island race in 1948, and a fourth place in 1949, the Holiday has really only ever had one mission; to bring people together through the magic and wonder of sailing. I've moved her to indoor storage 30 minutes from my house so I can complete her restoration and refit her for disabled sailors. I want to kick off a wounded warrior sailing program summer of 2011 or 2012 depending on how fast I get the work done.
I have a budget and lot's of volunteer labor. What I don't have is local resources and the wooden boat expertise. Can you all point me in the right direction?
