I have about 100 of the early issues that must go. Anyone interested?

Free in PDXDoesn't that indicate Portland?

Portland it is.

And I'm interested. If they're still available, email or call me to arrange transfer.

Thanks,

No. PDX doesn't (didn't) mean a thing to me.

Portland, Maine or Portland, Oregon?

Okay, now Google tells me that PDX is Portland, Oregon. I don't know many places by airport letters.

PDX is Portland, Oregon
PWM is Portland, Maine.

Not going to attempt to explain any of these TLA codes; some of them are historical, some of them logical, some just arbitrary. MSP, Minneapolis - St. Paul makes more sense than some, but Wold-Chamberlain Field is what it used to be (well, before that, it was the Fort Snelling Speedway!) Now it has Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, because Lindbergh International Terminal and Humphrey Charter Terminal were too confusing. MSP is also the code for the Amtrak depot in St. Paul. The downtown St. Paul airport, Holman Field, is STP.

Thanks for the replies. David said that he will pick them up. I am sorry for the use of the airport code, I assumed (wrong again) that they were widely known.

I'll be in Portland OR next weekend, and will take them if David decides he doesn't need them all.

No apology required. Northwest natives know that PDX is shorthand for Portland OR, and that Portland OR is perhaps uniquely, a city that happens to sometimes go by it's airport code, especially when written. On the other hand, how often do you hear anybody call it the Rose City? Not too often!

Somehow "PDX" makes good shorthand for Portland...

SUX, I know from my CAP days. Sioux City, Iowa.

Just to confirm - I pickup up these magazines. In the fullness of time, I'll go through them and pull out duplicates. I will then re-gift the duplicates. Having started the process, I'm gratified to note that there are fewer duplicates than I'd expected.

Thanks to Klondike!

If anyone in the Pacific North West (PNW, including SEA and PDX) is looking for a good home for back issues of WB, I'm very interested in reading them, and will put them to good use - I've only had my subscription for the past 4 issues, and have a lot to learn as I begin work on my BB14.

Cheers
Daniel

David and I have briefly PM'ed on this. We are putting together our lists of doubles and encourage others to do the same. I have a way to get mags from Seattle to PDX for free. Or back the other way too. Other options are available for other locations of course.

Dan,

I've completed my inventory (I think).

Did you have a scheme in mind on how to organize a transfer of duplicates for voids? I suppose I could just offer the duplicates I have for some of the ones I'm missing.

Here's the duplicates I have - by issue number:

42, 100, 106,107,138,184,192,194,195, 196, 200,202,206

The list of voids in my collection:

11 - 15
19, 20
51, 51
61,62
64 - 99
101 - 104
136, 140
144 - 165
167
170 - 172
175 - 178
180, 181, 183,
185 - 188
190, 203, 205
207 - 211

oh, oh!

I went rushing to the shop filing cabinet to see what I'm missing! If they're not already spoken for, I could use 42 and 138 off of your duplicate list. 'Fraid I don't have any duplicates myself...

What I'm missing:

everything pre-#95
127-129
131-138
140-147

David,

I could use #192.

I am missing #7 - 17, 20, 22 - 29, 31 - 33, 191, 192.

I have duplicates of #87, 116 - 133, 158, 164 - 169.

I am also looking for BDQ #28 - 31.

Here's what I have to offer:

32, 37, 39, 40, 41, 42, 49, 54x2, 110, 111, 113, 114, 150x2, 158, 193, 197, 198x2, 199x2.

Ya know, I spent an awful lot of time scouring around looking for the early ones and had found most of them. Pre-fleaBay. I'm upset that I dont see them in my collection. I'm remembering a hurried move and a basement flood that just happened to happen when I was at the wood boat fest in PT one year. :- ( Needless to say, I'm missing more than I realized. Here they are:

1-20, 23, 26, 27, 29, 31, 44, 45, 47, 48, 54, 57, 58, 59, 62, 74, 75, 76, 77, 78, 79, 82, 83, 85, 86, 88, 89, 91, 104, 105, 108, 109, 124, 125, 140, 141, 142, 144, 148, 149, 151

So far this is looking like Mr. Whitaker is going to do better than anyone. How far are you from Portland, Mark? I'm getting a ride from the train station from David to the boat I'm sailing up the coast somewhere around the 1st. I could bring what I have for you then. Another option would be to meet me somewhere along the river. We'll most likely catch a night in Astoria before heading across the bar.

I am missing 32, 33, 41 and 50. I have a few duplicates but can't put my hand on them at the moment. Anybody interested can PM me and, if I have them, they can be had for the cost of the postage. I am off to the cottage to do battle with the blackflies so I won't be able to respond until next week.

Oops, spoke too soon. Found the duplicates. They are 36, 37, 55, 56, 57, 58, 134, 135, 204 and 211.

As mentioned above, I need 32, 33, 41 and 50.

I'm 34 river miles from the bar on the Washington side, and I go over to Astoria at least once or twice a week, since my wife and girls live over there in town. I'm sure I can meet you somewhere on the river, or in Astoria.

Thanks!

Have you spent time there in the height of cone-eater season? Question should answer itself. :D

Or you could say the assigner was acknowledging Nantucket's importance.....
