After a couple of years going out on the little danish island (Ox-island) in the Flensburg Bay I decided to get the boat out at the Fisherman harbour in Flensburg.
Danish island Store Okseø (Big Ox-island)

The reason is mainly the time I had to spent to get to the Ox-island. I underestimated that before, but to get there is a half hour drive, then you have to call the ferry, which will additionally take half an hour to get to the landing and back to the island and then you are stuck there without a change to just drive to a store to get some brushes.
The Fishermen harbour however is right in the center of the Flensburg harbour which is in the center of the city.
I got out this sunday in "Kaiserwetter" (bright, sunny, but still a bit cold, so the Kaiser could walk about in his coat).
The pictures though I took in the afternoon.

As I said, the Fishermen have their "residence" ( they are mostly old men anyway) in the city.

Oh and yes...the dog handled his first slip-experience quite well (apart from barking when the boat was pulled out with me on top) ;)

Looks like a nice spot Martin, but that's a very interesting way to park a vessel on a cradle. I take it she's quite stable though.

Well the local slipmaster is an retired fisherman and has to deal with all sorts of boats. He actually spent 1 hour to measure my boat and to set up the posts. Why SIONNACHAN came out a little awkward beats me, but she is able to stand without posts at all, so I never worried.

Great pics. So you are just giving the bottom a scrape and paint? Any other projects?

Naa, just the usual anual scraping/painting of bottom and topsides.
I did a deck restoration last year when I spent months in an overheated shed to put coelan on my deck. So far I am satisfied with the result.

funny thing is...I thought about you yesterday. There was a documentary on mareTV (mareTV is a television concept showing all things related to the sea) about Newsealand. Apartfrom showing the Amercas Cup Story and portraying a Maori fishing in the Waitangi river they also had a chap in a nice looking wooden yacht (I forgot the Name but he sailed around the world once) as well as a lot of kids racing in Optimists.
You were in my mind during this docu and I promised my wife to show her your sailing pics.
...but NOW its "our" turn in the northern hemisphere to produce boat-porn ;)
PS: if we ever find the time (& money) to fly to NZ we must arrange a little "törn" with you
