Hey Guys. I am restoring a 1950 CC Express Cruiser which was not designed for blue water. I figure maybe if I waited for a big good weather window she would be okay to do the short hop to the Bahamas but would never (even with her new bottom) be safe in anything but the calmest conditions doing even that.

So, if my next restoration project is a boat capable of some blue water use and I want a 1950 or 1940 era boat, what would I be looking for? The following would be on my wish list: not a trawler. 30' to 45' range. I love the lines of the 40s and 50s Chris Craft Cruisers of this size but prtty much any similar cruiser in that era would please me. I probably would do a diesel repower and complete bottom replacement.

Thankfully, my wife neither checks this forum nor knows any of you as I would be in big trouble if she ever heard me say "my next restoration project."

Hmm--nice boat. Close. I would like more of a cruiser look versus a sport fisherman look.

I guess one doesn't exist. Or I'll have to find it myself. Sometimes threads just don't go anywhere--lol

I'll keep playing if you like.

What kinda range, fuel consumption, and speed are you looking for?

Yacht or workboat aesthetic?

Accommodations for how many?

Dangerous statement. Are you familiar with Billy and Rachel?

Don't know Billy and Rachel. Did Rachel leave Billy because of wood boat obsession.

Paul--that is closer. I'll look up more Penbos.

I was not aware of the wood boat rescue foundation. Painful to see all these listings of boats in imminent danger.
