Nick, That's a great story. It's hard to reconcile such acceptance with LFH's curmudgeonly writing (I spent so much time reading LFH in engineering school that my roommate referred to him as L. Francis Heresy).
Fan, look at yachtworld.com, search for manufacturer: Meadowlark. I think $29k. I was on the boat about six years ago, she looked pretty good.
A naval artichoke working for Hood built a Meadowlark of wood about ten years ago and spent $27-28k on materials, I believe memory serves correctly. He sold the boat a few years ago for a bit less.
