Mike, my friend in perth has launched his Eun Mara, "Ibis". There seems that there is a lot of interest in this Oughtred design, so I have a couple of pictures on my web site at www.alistego.com (http://www.alistego.com)

Just to clear something up...the newly launched boat is my friend Mike's boat, Ibis.
My boat, Alistego(the one featured on the web site), will not launch for a while yet.

Hiya, Dale!
Oooooooooooooh. Sexy. VERY Sexy. And a pretty wife too! Looks like a first-rate job.
Yours is looking good as well - spring's just around the corner, eh?
Mine's hanging in the rafters right now until I get the shop/work/business thing sorted out.

Very nice. My wife wants me to build one of those. Any estimates of time and money so I can shock her back into reality?

Hi All,
Mike built Ibis in less than two years. He described it as "working full time at two jobs- his career and the boat". I imagine he pushed himself pretty hard during this time. I don't know about his costs.
As far as Alistego, my Eun Mara goes, we figure to bring it in for about $20,000 CDN, all up including the custom trailer, outboard, going pretty much first class on fittings, professionally cast ballast, etc. As for my build time, I've done 2 summers to get this far, and I estimate maybe another 2 to finish up the construction. Maybe I'll need some of the 5th to put it all together. On a plus note I'll have a heated garage next winter, so that will speed things up a bit, too.

Thanks for the update Dale. Mike's boat is a beauty. I'm building Eun Mara also, but I'm in the early planning stage now. I've got my plans and a full set of molds and a big pile of lead ingots and the inner stem and stern pieces are laminated. That's as far as I can go until I finish the kitchen remodel. That's the deal I made with Mary when she let me build the last boat while the kitchen was all torn apart.
The good news is that I'm taking a few weeks off to get some serious work done on the kitchen. In the last two weeks I've finished the drywall, done all the taping, primed ceiling and walls, patched the hardwood floors, and sanded and refinished them. I've got a little work to do on the custom hood over the stove and all the cabinets to build. Then trim for doors and windows and some baseboard... I'm starting the cabinets tomorrow.
After the kitchen is done I think I would like to wire, insulate and drywall the garage before setting up the molds. I know I'll want to just go for it but the rewards of this extra work will pay off for years to come.
Your site, and links, are truly an inspiration - keep us posted.

Thanks Dale,
I was especially taken by the photos of the boat in paint. They show the lines more concretely than the bright. The photo of another's boat, with the waterline painted, as it's being turned over, especially.
What a handsome little boat! I imagine the clamping of those aft planks caused more than a minor headache. Imagine trying to plank that shape with solid planking!
Thanks for the web site. What a truly nice thing you are doing, bringing such magic to the world.
