Found this really interesting litle schooner and was wondering if anybody had any info. she is a Selway Fisher design and is only 15-17 feet.

Here's a picture:

It reminds me of the Stevenson Weekender, a straightforward flat-bottom skiff with complicated rig and some decoration to make it look like a traditional boat. It would be fun to sail, though, as long as you weren't in a hurry going to windward. The short masts and spars would be convenient, although there are certainly a lot of them. I think the cabin is hideous, like something off a particularly ugly fiberglass boat, an O'Day 22 maybe. It might be better built as an open boat - a lot easier to deal with the rig if you can walk forward.

Selway-Fisher boats always seem to me to look better in the flesh, or in photographs, than they do in the plans. Better that than the other way around, I guess.

I like the open boat with maybe a camper top, either dodger with bimini for over nighting. Open boat would make it easier to work all of the strings.

Prifile looks like a pelican 18 to me! I can see the weekender in this plan as well.

Since the Pelican is fairly striaght forward how would this type of short masted schooner rig do on her?

Hmmm... They may exist somewhere but I've yet to see a boat with this sort of rig sail well - though I can see some value in having lots of bits of string to hold if you want to go sailing with a family.

How would it be with a cat ketch or periauger rig, and a more attractive cosmetic treatment of the house? Well, it would be a different boat, but I think it might be a lot better.

Wonder what shape the hull profile is?
