I am thinking of re-powering my Cornish Pilot. I currently have a Vetus 3.10 (~22 HP) in the boat, that has been mostly rebuilt. I still have some trouble with it, and after years of wrestling with it I think I am done with that battle.
So what small diesel engine (2 or 3 cylinder, 15-25 HP) are folks a fan of? I'm interested in something that could be hand started, and can mount a stardard sized alternator w/o to much trouble, part are easy to get, and is not raw water cooled.
