Groovy soundtrack choices, Bruce.

The spinning, bouncing rotifer is a highlight.

The YouTube "audioswap" files aren't bad.

Amoeba in a WWI helmet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v1-BExakt8s)

(Better in full screen, so you can see the mushy creature under the shell).

I've figured out who that NSFW annelid is and what he does for a living.

Turns out he's not a porn star after all. In fact, he's completely asexual. His genus is chaetogaster, and he catches little flagellated guys as they whiz by and gobbles them down. He's transparent, so you can see his prey being pushed along in his gut. Gross.

It's like watching a dog catch flies, except in this case, the dog is blind. How the hell does he sense that something is winging past his blind snout? Absolutely amazing.

Here he is, hunting blind (soundtrack courtesy of SWMBO): Pinball Wizard (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtuRUEsnITk)

First half gives the glory, second half the guts.

This guy looks and acts like a tiny snail, but he's a single-celled organism (an amoeba) who has glued his spiral shell together from individual particles of sand (very small particles, when you consider that you could fit three of these amoebas inside a single grain of 60 grit!).

From "Dark Side Of The Sun"?

I'm guessing you're referring to the Terry Pratchett novel, which I haven't read...Wikipedia says it features an Octopoid called "Creepii," which would be a good name for our lad.

Yup - as with "Strata" - a bit different to the run-of-the-mill Discworld...
