Does anyone know if Solway Dory is still producing plans? I have their Peterboat sailing canoe plans and there are some missing measurments which voids building the boat unless i can obtain them...I have e-mailed them twice to no avail. Odd, since their website is still up...Does anyone have these plans available to help or a clue to where these guys are, or still in business?
Thanks,

GOOGLE turned up two different home page web addresses. Maybe there's more than one email address? Just a shot in the dark.

Here they are:
Solway Dory (http://www.solwaydory.co.uk/)
I'm just off out to the Beale Park Boat Show up the road from me here in UK, and where they will be exhibiting, as they did last year with some absolutely cracking sailing canoes. They're alive & kicking.

I was at Beale Park yesterday, and I can confirm they were there - I even took some photos of one of their more beautiful boats...

No problem finding their website although they don't seem to want to return e-mails. Two e-mails without a response over 10 day period. Perhaps the Beale park show has occupied their available time although you would think they would leave someone at the helm for inquirys. I'll give them a few more days. Thanks for the help guys.

I'd give them more time. You would be amazed how much time a smallish boating business has to spend these days answering e-mails. You want to take the time to answer questions properly and don't want to blow-off a good potential customer, but sometimes there is real work that has to get done and it has to take priority.

GavSnap Gavin. "Corrour" the clear finished clinker canoe yawl?
John
That should be "Coruisk". Both places I want to go to, but who names a boat "Corrour"?

I can't honestly say I checked for that. However, they're clearly still in business, and their website is offering plans.
Not entirely sure I'm a gentleman though...

Did you happen to see the Swallow Boats people there? smile.gif
No, I can't recall if SD were selling plans either.
Yes I did see Swallow Boats. In fact we went for a spin round the lake in a 2 person pedal powered boat which I think was one of Swallow Boat's. I was suprised how fast we were able to go - we'd seen the boat ambling round the lake earlier. My friend runs half marathons.........
Gavin, do you still visit West Somerset? Call round and I'll show you my new computer controlled router. Chuck in a bit of wood and out pops a boat. Well, almost.

Meer -
I did see the Swallow people's stand and their boats, and was impressed by how their Storm Petrel could move even in the light wind periods we had on Saturday.
Their double pedal boat was a hoot too. Perhaps its most striking feature is that unlike the usual tandem arrangement, you and your partner face each other, which I'm sure will appeal to lovers but possible not to people who are less intimate...

Hi John -
Good to hear from you. Yes, I do still travel to Minehead several times a year to see my parents, who are still pretty active - you may have noticed my father's Exmoor walking guides in the local shops.
I'd be delighted to see your lovely machine please: I might well be interested to do a little business with you, and I'd be particularly interested in learning something about the technical side of creating dxf files that your machine can work with. I think we should talk off-group... I'm at gmatkin at or around clara.net.
