I just wonder what kind of design you guys like most. People in the Flensburg Museumharbour are undecided. But some of them judge the design by their personal preference and not by the outside impact (which is of course the maxim I try to work for).

After coming up with those 5 ideas how to put the RumRegatta Dates on a maritime image I am finally running out of ideas - suggestions for 2011?

I have in mind a Flensburg rum bottle (I realise this creates an immediate difficulty, as there is more than one distillery, but anyway...a generic Flensburg rum bottle) with a photo of an exciting moment from an actual Rumreggata superimposed as the "ship in the bottle"

Maybe too corny?

No, not at all. I must confess I haven't thought about a "Buddelschiff" before. Perhaps I should order a big 3l Buddelschiff with a motiv showing the rounding of the buoy 12. Then I could a picture of it for the next RR.

And then there is actually only one rum-manucaturing company left (from over 150) and its the one sponsoring the rum bottles for the RR.

just my opinion: what I like in the 2007 and 2008 design is that they depict a living situation. The others are still life composition; even if they are high quality graphic design, don't suggest a key fact (imo): the active action of the people joining the party. I too like the last 2010 design; it's a pity the water is so still and quiet, maybe with the propeller running it'd have been different.

Yes of course you are right. To show people, a person or even just a face is the best way to attract attention - that is standard know how in graphic design.

For me the tattoo-design is the best among those RR Posters I made. It certainly depicts everything the RR is about. rum - crazy skipper - maritime culture
The funny thing is that this motif aroused much more controversy than the 2008 motif as example. Some people loved it while others (some skipper even) said the RR isn't a tattoo convention.

eh, we are living in the stupid world of the politically correct, I know; whatever one may say or write, there is always someone else who gets offended, and the more is stupid, the more he gets offended easily. So people who have to say something for a living - politicians for instance - simplify their speech enough, so nobody can feel hurt; everything seems to push us towards a soporific mediocrity (I should say "...to have pushed us...", because everything is already happened)
