I am restoring a William Fife designed 34'6" sailing boat. She has a beam of 8'6". The cabin is simple - settee berths port and starboard. I'd like a cabin table but want to be able to 'lose' it quickly and easily. The original drawings show a table that folds in to the cabin sole, which seems like a good solution, but I dont have detailed drawings or any clue as to the construction. I can probably come up with something, but does anyone have any ideas, tips, suggestions, warnings etc?
thank you

Harrison Butler's "Cruising Yachts, Design and Performance" has a small drawing of just such a table that was fitted to his own "Vindilis" (page 91 in the "Excellent Press" 4th edition). Have read an article by his daughter in another publication (Classic Boat mag?) that it worked very well.

Graeme and I were thinking along the same lines:

Nice little book, very salty designs.
