I have been looking at small boat designs foe the last 10 years + or -. Finally have the time place and tools to do It!! Have reduced the selection to a Whitehall, Poncbscot or Cosine Wherry inthe 14 to 17 range of wood for rowing, sail and fishing in that order.
I would appreciate any input that will help in me make the final decission for my first building project. THANKS

Hey George,
I can't offer any experience, but after looking through a lot of designs out there with similar characteristics, I think I like these designs (http://www.duck-trap.com/dtwplans.html#plans) the best, at Duck Trap Woodworking. I especially like their Lincolnville Salmon Wherry. Just a suggestion, though, in case you've never seen them. ;)
It seems like deciding on a construction method would help you, since the Cosine is strip built and the others are plywood lapstrake. Both methods seem to have a lot of fans, and you can use the search function to find discussions comparing the methods. Maybe that'll help a bit.
Good luck!
