I was down at Jericho Beach (Vancouver) today with my camera. Incredibly, while taking photos of another boat, I heard a crack, then a splash, and turned to discover that both masts on this nasty old ketch, anchored nearby, had toppled like a pair of trees. Oddly enough, it wasn't even particularly windy today, and of course, the sails weren't up.

I guess we can assume that privateering no longer pays the way it once did.
