Kaa,

I thought Donn was the only smart guy who could be so remarkably wrong...

Those are NOT birds.

They are psychedelic experiences

It's not misery. It's quiet satisfaction.

If I ever decide to become a real wildlife photographer, I'll keep your advice in mind :-)

But if you insist, here'a a wild bird in a jungle:

If there were ever any doubt expressed about birds being the mutant offspring of dinosaurs, show the unbelievers this photo.

I was just pulling your leg - the pictures are great. But here is a deal: I am driving up to Amazonia on April 20, and will spend 2 weeks at a research base in a wildlife reserve. Get your arse to Rio and you can come with me, and get some pictures of hoatzins, sunbitterns, macaws, toucans, and maybe even a harpy eagle. We will be the only humans allowed in a few hundred thousand hectares of flooded forest. Bring a good zoom lens and plenty of mosquito repellent. :D

I know :-) About the leg, that is :D the pics are OK, but not great -- too static.

Too bad. Maybe some other time. I would love to get a pro like you out there to get some pictures of our habituated wildlife. I dare say there is nowhere else in the world where you can get so close to certain species without affecting their behavior.
