Tancook schooner

Guess i should have asked this here.Looking for information on a designer Ray Stevens and boat builder Guy H. Asbury. I have a tancook schooner designed and built by them in the late 50's around Dublin Shore N.S.I know Mr. Asbury designed and built several Tancook schooner yachts,I have a page of construction plans for a 28 footer named CalypsoII.Has anyone heard of either of these two? Thanks.

I've been waiting for mmd to chime in on this one as he is quite knowledgeble of local history.Stevens is a common name for the South Shore with many famous boatbuilders.The family has ties directly to Tancook Island.Asbury,I don't recognize,but that doesn't mean much.

I just got home late this afternboon from a trip to Maine to see a man about a boat. I saw this thread, but didn't jump in yet 'cause I have nothing to add - yet. A couple of boat-building buddies in the Dublin Shore area may have some knowledge about Mr. Asbury, and I will ask them when I next see them, but I have nothing for you right now.

Ray Stevens (now deceased) used to build in his shop in Western Shore (outside Chester Basin). Likely his best-known schooner design was his 36 ft. "Bluenose Jr." His grandson took the shop over and built boats there, then moved to Chester and built from his father-in-law's shop (Gerald Stevens) but has now left boatbuilding and someone else is building there. I never heard of Asbury. The Stevens, Heisler, Mason, and Langille families are all interconnected and come from Tancook Island a few generations back. Ray's grandson, by the way, is Steven Swinimer.

I have drawn a blank on Asbury, and have nothing extra to add to what Dave K has said - I only knew that Ray was a boatbuilder in Western Shore. Maybe the Fisheries Museum in Lunenburg would have more info.
