An astronomical observation station? Sort of a built in astrolabe like device?

The hemispherical sundials are made on the plane of the celestial equator. The northern face functions like a sundial between the vernal and autumnal equinoxes. The southern face functions between the autumnal and the vernal equinoxes.

Not really Jack.... although I'll take the compliment....

My daughter, who was there 15 months ago walked in just as you posted the thread. I grabbed her and said "what's this"... she said "Pink City... Jaipur.... astronomical centre..." I had to go to Google to get the full descriptor, although the daughter was getting there gradually.

btw... she took a long, long time to get over her Indian experience. Still suffers some effects I believe from the Amoebic Dysentry.

My compliments to you for your admission.

It's amazing to me that the Hindi's were playing with this stuff when Colombus was still in the astrolabe mode.

I'll post some more fom a book I got all about this astronomical park in Jaipur. Amazing place.

I hope your daughter is better. It took me a week to get over several effects of the India visit.:o

No fair Ian.

It took me 5 minutes just to count the 24 sections and start to think it's a clock.
