It is so much more simple with metric measures M3 / Kg.

Also of intrest is the Falkirk wheel which functions on archimedes principle. Instead of a normal lock system it utilises two "baths", one with a boat in, one with out. These mounted at 180 degrees on a wheel, lift and lower boats from one level to another with only a 1.5 kw electric motor to overcome the friction. This with a capacity of 600 T
