View Full Version : Anyone want to claim this?
It breaks my heart, but I have to let go of my project.
Anyone want a free 1937 Seabird? On the hard, Vancouver Island (East Sooke) Cedar on oak. Please, someone, give her a good home. Lots of bits to go with her.

Oh, man. I feel for you.
Could a person launch her and sail her home? It'd be awful pricey to get her on a ferry.

I'm very sad for you soba, I too was tempted by a spoon sterned Seabird some time ago but I was pipped at the post. Fortunately as it happened as I would have been in the same position you find yourself. I hope you find her a home and that the break is not too stressful.
If you were closer, if only you were closer. Hope you find someone to care for her.

I'm close enough but have my hands full with Oh Joy...
What's her condition?
On the hard (2 years, dirt floor), iron sickness, many plank edges ruined by ham handed previous owner who liked to caulk her from the inside, no interior, hole in stbd bow above waterline (just), needs repair to stem and some frames.
No way she'd float. Not right now. I was just about to replace the chine logs, and this "life change" caught me with my proverbial pants down.
Nice custom made boat stands and running Bukh 10 hp make it worth the price of admission, though. Also the $1000 worth of 2x4's in the shelter. Already found a home for the 3800 board feet of clear cedar...even made a few dollars on that.
If no one claims her soon, I'll have to take a saw to her. And I will cry all week. :(

Good Luck
Hey guys,
found a home for her! I advertised her locally, and got lots of bites like "you can dump on my lawn," or "how much fiberglass would it take to make it float?"
But last week this guy walks into the shop and we start yakking about the bike he's restoring (yet another xs650 project) and I say "want a boat?" Turns out he works for a local boatbuilder and has both money and resources to finish her. Not only did I find a great home for my yawl (his yawl, I guess) but I made a really good friend.
Thanks for the support! If anyone knows where a good Club 420 is, I'm in the market for one...

Happy for you and your boat. I also managed to give away a yawl last year.
