Need a ratio of gallons to a cubic ft. Lead is 740 lbs to a Cubic foot. See where I'm going.

Exactly. I have that written on my whiteboard, and then I have to convert that to cubic metres.

If you suffer from wimpy undernourished gallons.
We here have proper gallons - each of which would weigh in at ten pounds - so you can only get six and a quarter of them into a cubic foot (if you squeeze real hard).

I have to remind myself of that every time I watch Top Gear and they quote mileage...the ooooh usually changes to Oh!

You do know that google is also a calculator? Just type in your query thus:
( 3 parsecs / 2 seconds ) in (furlongs per fortnight) (http://www.google.com/#hl=en&source=hp&q=%28+3+parsecs+%2F+2+seconds+%29+in+%28furlongs+p er+fortnight%29)
So 1 cubic foot in
US gallons (http://www.google.com/#q=1+cubic+foot+in+gallons)
Imperial pints (http://www.google.com/#hl=en&safe=off&q=1+cubic+foot+in+imperial+pints) (that would be about 50 pints of the landlord's best bitter)
Verra useful.

Cast lead weighs 708.5 lbs per cubic foot, not 748.

there are 231 cu inches in a gallon, to find the volume of a tank
mult length x width x height divide by 231 and viola.. gallons.
of course saddle tanks that match the curve of a hull are trickier
due to the arc.
