You must check out this boat offered for sale on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2429975761&category=26433).

Oh what I would do with 1.4 million.

What do you think the annual upkeep for something like this is?

I saw that. Gorgeous!!! But I can't even imagine what the upkeep would be.

I'll spoil the surprise and tell everyone that it's a Herreshoff New York 40. For more info on the boat and the restoration work they did, see: http://newyork40rowdy.com

Lottery winnings are definitely wasted on some folks. Let's see: if I won just $3.3 million, that's maybe $2.0 million after taxes, buy the boat, move it, and enjoy it until the upkeep eats through the last 1/2 million . . .

They have 25,000 hours of time and want $1.4 million.

If the boat and materials were free, that works out to a shop rate of $56/hr.

The sailmaker didn't get the message about authenticity of cut, materials and colors.

OK, so I sell the house, car, The SHADOW, & the 32' Ericson. Borrow the other 750K from the bank, be in-debt for the next 50 years, yet get to live the "Technicolor Dream tongue.gif ?!" Oh, that's a tough one.
Do ya think they could move the decimal place over to the left a few spots  ?

I know a guy who has been sailing on her. He says the three-man syndicate has been spending about $170,000 per year, which includes upkeep, fees, dockage in the Mediterenian, shipping the boat to Antigua, etc. Says they have nice parties.
