No "cockpit" picture. I wonder if there is any cockpit left. Seems like a gallon squeezed into a pint pot.

It appears to be a brilliant solution to the soggy Pacific Northwest.

I'm wondering less about the size of the open cockpit and more about whether there's a substantial tiller or wheel in the cockpit so the helmsman can see the sail when sailing. There's a wheel (cable driven) in the pilothouse, but can the helmsman see the sail from it? I'm guessing the pilothouse wheel is for steering under power only.

I think the colour is wrong but there's another example of a catboat to motor sailer conversion at Sam Devlin's website that looks quite sharp. I've also heard that catboats motor rather better than most sail boats, presumably because of the wide, shallow hull.

We prefer 'damp' to 'soggy' here in the grand NW. Or if you are poetic, 'misty' will do as well.

Ditto on the sawzall

In the first picture the side of the cabin looks wrinkled. I think it may be a pop top like on top of a van so that they have standing room at moorage but much lower under way.

Photo 4 shows a wooden pilothouse frame with glass windows at the helm, so I can't agree about the popup notion.

Does the photo show facric covers over the pilothouse windows?

Odd requirements yield odd boats. I'm with Ian.

Brilliant? Perhaps. But homely as a mud fence
