Outstanding stuff John! You've been busy.
Damn John, you have more energy than ten of us... Nice work, lots of experience. Thanks for the post.

Great work John, and thanks for sharing it.
I hope you don't mind a suggestion however - lose the propeller background on the landing page! Makes it very hard to read.

Beautiful boats! My Charlotte is hanging in the garage, waiting for spring. Why 6mm? The plans call for 4mm. Just curious. I've got to get busy to catch up to you. No such thing as owning too many wooden boats!

You caught me on that one, Richard !...."Charlotte" is indeed 4 mm and not 6......I'll try to get this corrected soon as possible......thanks!
By the way, the "Victor Slocum"'s 1/4 knees, inwales, outwales, chine logs, and breast hook are all laminated Honduran mahogany....the floorboards will be 3/4" Atlantic white cedar, and the seats will be 1/2" AWC bonded to a layer of 6 mm Okoume.....I really like to bond the seats to Okoume 'cause it keeps them perfectly flat and avoids warping.

Also thinking about removing that brass 1/2 round on the V.S. stem and replacing it with a laminated built up "false stem"....I think the brass looks sorta tacky....will give it more thought.

I'm in the middle of building a 15' Rushton pulling boat. Working on the false stems right now and also am considering losing the brass stem bands. I don't intend on running into anything, anyway! I'm glad to see someone agrees.

I ordered my 48 VDC drive system about 30 minutes ago from EVAmerica, Wolfeboro, NH ......the agony over a power plant for my boat is OVER !.....I believe I made the right decision. I will start out using 24 VDC (two T-1275 batteries) and charge them individually using a small 12-volt charger. If everything works like I want it I may stay with 24 but if it looks like 48 is much better, the boat's battery compartment will readily accomodate two additional T-1275 cells and I'll obtain a 48 volt charger. My system includes a DC/DC converter to power a CD player with Crosby, Stills & Nash coming through nice & clear ! Many thanks to Denny Wolfe for his valued advice and light hearted pressure !
