Saw this on another listserve. If any of the maritime history buffs on WBF are also college profs or grad students, this might be a good summer project.
There are about three weeks left before the deadline for the Summer
Institute to be held at Mystic Seaport, 21 June to 30 July 2010.
Entitled "The American Maritime People," the institute will pay $4,500
to each participant to defray expenses; there are spots available for
faculty and graduate students alike. If you know anyone who may be
interested, please refer them to the website linked below, which has
information on the program, participant eligibility and the application
