Cute, but the voids / roughness in the casting makes one worry about the overall strength of the piece.

Actually, the top edge is just plain ugly (think what it'd do to a rode!) & I think it would have to be ground so far as to render the whole thing unusable. Then there's the time to grind off the skull & crossbones.....

Im not sure in what situation the rode would contact that top edge... maybe you guys can enlighten me.

Well, the unit doesn't seem to have any kind of bail over the roller. When the anchor rode slacks, it could ride up onto the edge & abrade. It could also slide over it as the boat turns.
Though - since it's advertised as a stern roller, on could assume greater tension because of a bow anchor as well - thus diminishing the likelihood of that happening.
However, I know I wouldn't be interested in bolting on a piece of hardware that looked like that!

I'll stick with the nog of Lignum Vitae on my bow. .Quiet and self lubricating
