Water has dropped about two feet on Lake St. Clair in the last couple of days. I'm guessing that there is a big ice jam blocking the St. Clair River, but their don't seem to be any reports. There was an ice jam in January, which was supposedly cleared.

There was also a large low-pressure system moving east south of the lake. A few states south. Big System. The result was southerly breeze, consistently, which would blow against the current. What effect? Considering the shape of Huron, maybe not inconsiderable.

This is not a wind-driven effect. There was an ice jam in 1984 that cut the river flow by about 2/3. Seems odd there has been nothing on the news, and I can't seem to find any USACOE reports either.

Look at the drop in early February:

I do not think that the level between the North of Lake St Clair and the west of Lake Erie has a fall of two feet, so I did not feel that that much of a fall could be attributed to plugging Huron up at Sarnia.

There normally is about a three foot drop in the Detroit River between Lake St. Ciair and Lake Erie.

Finally found something in a Port Huron paper, that the ice jam is still blocking the river--had four USCG cutters attempting to clear it, including one from New Jersey. It's stating to look pretty bad. We are in winter storage in the water, now sitting on the bottom.
