After looking through a copy of Garner's Building Classic Small Craft, I have become interested in building a design similiar to a Rangely or Herreshoff Row boat for use in the in the inland lakes of Northern WI.
Can someone suggest a source of plans and or patterns for something around 16'?
Thanks

Newfound Woodworks sells complete plans for a strip-planked Rangeley boat, including full-size patterns for the molds. They also offer kits. Their plans use the offsets from Gardner's book, and the boat can be built in lengths ranging from 15 to 17 feet.

There are two sliding seats pulling boats designed by Ken Bassett available from WB. Both are 18' x 3' .
'Firefly' is hard chine plywood.
'Liz' is drawn for traditional lapstrake construction and has been built in glued lapstrake and in cedar strip composite.

Why not build the Herreshoff rowboat? Looks beautiful, rows well, relatively easy to build in lapstrake plywood, plans are in the book, why look further?

Another design which may interest you is a kit offered by Pygmy (see http://www.pygmyboats.com ) for a 14' rowboat. There's a story on their site about a family taking a rowing trip in BC.
I'll be starting on a Herreshoff rowboat soon, in glued-lap plywood. I have the stations drawn (on paper) but this has been the coldest winter we've had in years, so the garage hasn't seen much action. As Keith said, Gardner's book has everything you need. Good Luck.
