And smaller. A friend of mine is tweaking a Fife daysailor of about 25' that he'll be building on spec this winter. Mostly he's just modifying the rather odd and cumbersome looking not-quite-high-peaked-gaff-but-not-quite-gunter rig to something more acceptable to the modern eye. I'll post pics when he gets around to it.

Your eye isn't wandering Crowninshield's design table, now is it? smile.gif

Dingo, smaler than you asked about, but when I was growing up, the rich guys sailed these. I never sailed one. Never being rich (except in friends)

Man I cant stop droolin over Moonbeam!! whoooee what a yacht and a half she is! racing thorough breds for sure

Although its interesting that on that site there are several shots of smaller yachts like Tern, Siglen Mikado Sunshine Viola and Pierrette... but they are sorta reminiscent of Crowninsheilds Dark Harbor and therefore the day sailer type which although gorgeous are out of my intent

Okay okay havin just spent some time on that site I now realize that he does in fact have designs fittin my size requirement... but who wants a racer?

As for Crowninsheild mate he does a fine day sailer even Fame bein of that class I think although she is 40ft LOA (well I couldnt imagine doin an ocean voyage of any length in her) but Ive not see hide nor hair of anything he did that has that potential so eyes are as always scannin further afield

Fife seems somewhat of a mystery to me down here...

Thanks for the link Hwyl mate its interesting isnt it? the rich boys and their toys eh? not havin a shot at them fellas at all... just we on the sidelines spend so much time looking wondering and in awe of the boats and desire nothin more than a simple time of pleasure sailin on one and yet the chance rarely comes simply due to the difference of societical positioning in our lives... as boys we stare in total wonderment and dream of sailin one of these boats and yet for the greater majority of us it remains ever a dream even into adulthood... which is sad to me.

I beleive some of this is slowly changing with the programs run like the Picton Castle and the Leuwin down here where kids can get a go... trouble with that though at least down here its only available free to those "troubled" kids in strife with the law or from poor familys or single parent families and not to those kids who are not "troubled" or not in strife with the law or from middle class families... so what we went through kids like us today still go through

ahhh well Mr Fife sure designed a fine boat or two didnt he!

Final one... Kentra

Dingo, Adix is an Arthur Holgate design, from about 1982. She was built in Mallorca Spain and originally called Jessica

Thank you.

That has to be the most practical Fife I've seen; I was going to mention the Dublin Bay 25 footers but they are day racers and therefore less practical.
